“It”: New Releases – 5/21/10

Picture this: You’re at a party.  Small circles of conversation are scattered around the dimly lit room and Soul Meets Body by Death Cab for Cutie breaks up the din in the atmosphere.  Your eyes involuntarily find that intriguing stranger over by the bar no matter how hard you try to resist the desire.  Ben Gibbard’s vocals and the engaging conversation about the Lost finale slowly fades out until you fear that you’re staring.  Some people just have “It” – that indescribable thing that makes you want to know more about them.  The new releases from JW Media Music’s Brilliant Series have “It.”  These 12 CD’s have everything you could ever want in a production music library – Adrenaline drenched hard rock, horn infused party Dub, heartwarming solo acoustic guitar, mysterious tremolo laden Rockabilly, dark and eerie Dubstep, Bluesy Americana slide guitar from the humid south, soothing rhythmic meditations and infectious Electronica to get your booty shaking.  Just one warning – When you start listening, keep in mind that’s it’s not polite to stare.  Oh JW Brilliant Series………you sexy little heart breaker!

We here at 5 Alarm Music love our music.  We were the ones donning band tee shirts in high school and have the record/tape/CD collection that could fill an entire garage.  My Favorite 5 is a brand new weekly blog that outlines some of our favorite songs in the 5 Alarm Music catalog and why we dig it in our own words.  Let’s meet TerriLynn Rosa, shall we?

R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio

Ronald James Padavona, better known as Ronnie James Dio, passed away on Sunday.  His legacy as an animated front man for Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Dio will be remembered for shaping the spirit of Heavy Metal.

“They say that life’s a carousel / Spinning fast, you’ve got to ride it well” – You made the ride more rockin’ for all of your fans, Ronnie.  Long Live Rock N’ Roll!

Sonic Teleportation: New Releases – 5/14/10

Have you ever wanted to step inside a chamber and be instantly transported to a far away destination?  Every time you are stuck in rush hour traffic, I’m sure!  The human teleportation concept is a favorite among Science Fiction fans yet seems to be a scientific impossibility.  The laws of physics can be such a drag!  Don’t fret, we have the next best thing.  This week’s new releases from the Pennybank Tunes music library are so vivid that they give the allusion of being transported to an entirely new environment.  PNBT1009 Mama Africa is a lovable collection of festive African World Beat songs that are the equivalent to a sonic celebration!  You can just picture the lush rain forests and joyous culture as you dance along to the infectious rhythms.  Meanwhile back at the ranch, there is danger in the air.  The mysterious and investigative atmosphere from PNBT1011 Magnetic Underscores haunt the city streets like a villain lurking in the shadows.  Hopefully the human transport chamber supplies bullet-proofed vests.  And a really good sun block for the African sun.

Finding 5 Alarm Music at the annual NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) Convention closely resembles a Where’s Waldo book.  Yep, we’re the ones wearing the flaming cowboy hats.  Can’t miss us!

In 2007, Jeffrey Stansfield visited our booth and took a liking to our annual NAB signature apparel.  A gifted hat and 3 years later we receive an email with an update.  In that time Jeffrey has taken that hat to Paris, Amsterdam, Israel, Russia, Canada, Mexico, Greece and Italy…..

Volunteered for the Red Cross…..

Gone snowboarding…..

Catered many events…..

He has jumped out of planes and climbed mountains at Yosemite donning his 5 Alarm flaming stetson.  The adventures of Jeffrey and his hat are as global and diverse as our music libraries.

The word “Summer” evokes a sense of release.  It’s a time for vacation, a time for leisure, a time for responsibilities melting away like ice cream dripping down the side of a cone.  This weeks new releases from the Abaco Music Library come right in time for the debut of Summer 2010!  AB186 Lifestyle Smile feels like the soft breeze flowing through your hair as you ride through the countryside on a sunny afternoon.  These light and airy cues carry you off into a slower, more relaxed state of mind.   Once you arrive at your destination, it’s time to let loose a little with AB187 Daytime Heaven.  These motivating tracks remind us that all is right in the world and it’s time to enjoy it.  School’s out for Summer!  AB188 Pop Punk hearkens back to a time when the days were wide open for youthful adventure and rebellious ennui.  Ah, the sounds of unleashed energy/confusion/cockiness of our youth!  So grab your beach towel and don’t forget the sunscreen, Summer is almost here!

5 Alarm Rocks The Pink House

Plot: Down to earth Mid-Western gal moves to Manhattan Beach in search of a fun way to spend her 20’s.  Residing in the house behind her apartment (a pink house perhaps?) are two fellow good-hearted Mid-Western guys who share her zest for life and a neighborly friendship.  Features some awesome music from the best production music library in the entire universe: 5 Alarm Music.

Thus is the storyline for NBC’s new pilot for The Pink House starring American Idol Finalist/Recording Artist/Actress Katharine McPhee (OK, maybe the last sentence was an act of creative license from the author.  Maybe…..).  The 5 Alarm choir crew was up to the task of recording some custom music for the show at Firehouse Recording Studios yesterday and looked darn good doing it!  They’ve seen a million faces, and they’ve rocked them all….


Sharpen Your Focus: New Releases – 4/16/10
