Valentine’s Day is a day for strong emotions to percolate to the surface of one’s consciousness.  Feelings of love.  Feelings of tenderness.  Feelings of wanting to track down your ex and punch him in the face.  I guess like the rest of us, Cupid isn’t perfect.  Whether your relationship status is “single,” “in a relationship” or the ever-elusive “it’s complicated,” we can all relate to songs about love.

Aloe Blacc Hits The Big Time

It’s no surprise to us when composers within our libraries hit it big.  Aloe Blacc, also known as Nathaniel Dawkins around these parts, is enjoying worldwide success with his latest release Good Things.  Last December he made his television debut on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon performing his hit “I Need A Dollar” backed by soulful Hip Hop legends and Jimmy Fallon house band The Roots (?uestlove – abnormally amazing drummer or inhuman alien from Planet Funk?  Discuss).

Aloe’s penchant for soulful and funky melodies was well documented on his recent Conan O’Brien appearance:

Our mood is negotiable at any given time.  Mood can be as pliable as Play-Doh depending on our surroundings.  Think about it.  Whose mood WOULDN’T immediately lift if the Publisher’s Clearing House folks dropped by your house with one of those humongous checks for 1 million dollars?  Or be severely bummed out when you realize that they knocked on the wrong door?  Doh!  This week’s new releases from the Sonic Quiver music library have the ability to immediately shift your mood into a good one.  These tracks act like happy pills without any nasty side effects.  Yippee!
